Political Demonstrations in Thailand

The government of Thailand declared a 60-day State of Emergency in Bangkok beginning on 22 January 2014. Political demonstrations are taking place in Bangkok and other areas of the country and at times these demonstations have resulted in injuries and deaths due to violence and firearms.
Advice for Travellers
Travellers in Thailand are advised to avoid demostrations whenever possible and follow local news for developments. Extra time should be allowed for journeys to the airport as delays are likely.
