Avian Influenza (H7N9) in China

The Macau Department of Health announced on 11 December 2015, 6 new cases of human infection with H7N9 avian influenza. The cases were located in the following provinces of China: Anhui (1), Hunan (3), Guangdong (1) and Zhejiang (1). The cases are male (3), female (3), age range 1-74 years; 2 cases are reported to be in a serious condition with 4 in a stable condition.

Three cases gave a definite history of contact with live poultry, farmed poultry, or live poultry markets.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers experiencing severe flu like symptoms within 10 days of returning from China, should contact their GP and inform them of their recent travel to China.
