Zika Virus Infection in Maldives (Update)

The European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC) has removed the Maldives in Southern Asia from the list of countries with Zika virus transmission. It has been more than nine months since the last autochthonous (locally acquired) case was reported in the country.

Advice for Travellers

Other mosquito-borne viral infections such as dengue and chikungunya are a risk in the Maldives and travellers should continue to prevent mosquito bites.
