Portugal Specific Risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Following a review of the public health risk assessment process, this country has now changed from a high risk to a moderate risk of exposure to COVID-19.
While case numbers have been decreasing, there has been a recent small increase in case numbers in most regions. Rates of infection are higher in Lisbon, Porto and North, and Alenjo regions, and relatively lower in the Azores and Madeira. This is being closely monitored.

Advice for Travellers
There is a moderate risk of exposure to coronavirus (COVID-19) in mainland Portugal, the Azores and Madeira:
- Travellers are advised to consider avoiding non-essential travel to mainland Portugal if they are at an increased risk of severe COVID-19
